Before we get into what’s happening in 2026, we just want to say a huge merry Christmas to all our clients, partners and everyone we’ve worked with this year. It’s been a brilliant 2024 for us at Vxcel Piling, and we’re genuinely grateful for every single project we’ve been part of. We hope you all have a cracking Christmas and a well-deserved break.
Let’s talk about what’s coming up in the new year because 2026 is looking absolutely massive for construction and development across the UK.
What We’re Seeing for 2026
The enquiries coming through our office in Great Harwood are already painting a picture of what next year will look like. Housing developments are ramping up, commercial projects are getting the green light, and infrastructure work is kicking off across the country.
We’ve been established since 2010 and this feels like one of the busiest years we’ve got coming up. Our team has already got the diaries filling up for January and February, which tells us construction isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
The phone’s ringing from everywhere. North-West projects around Lancashire and Manchester, Midlands work coming through Birmingham and the surrounding areas, southern enquiries from London and the home counties and North-East jobs across Yorkshire and beyond. It’s nationwide and it’s non stop.
Where the Work’s Coming From
Greater Manchester and Lancashire
Our home territory is buzzing. We’re based in Great Harwood and we’ve worked extensively across Lancashire for years, but Greater Manchester’s development plans for 2026 are crazy. New housing estates, commercial developments, infrastructure projects, the lot.
The mini piling work we do is perfect for these kinds of projects. Space is tight, access is often restricted and ground conditions can be tricky. That’s exactly what we specialise in. Whether it’s domestic extensions in Bury or commercial builds in Manchester city centre, we’ve got the kit and the know how to handle it.
Birmingham and the Midlands
Birmingham’s construction boom isn’t stopping. HS2 might be scaled back but the regeneration work around the city continues. We’re getting calls for commercial piling work across the Midlands almost daily now.
What’s interesting is the mix of projects. It’s not just big commercial stuff, we’re seeing loads of domestic work too. Extensions on properties where ground conditions aren’t great, new builds on brownfield sites that need solid foundations and Underpinning services for older properties that are being renovated or extended.
London and the South East
The capital never stops building and 2026 looks no different. The challenge down south is always the same. Restricted access, existing structures everywhere and ground conditions that vary massively across the city.
Our restricted access piling services are getting a lot of interest from London contractors. When you’ve got a site that’s surrounded by other buildings, narrow streets and limited space to manoeuvre, you need specialist equipment. That’s where our Cobra D500 rigs come in. Compact enough to get into tight spots but powerful enough to do the job right.
Yorkshire and the North East
Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle, all seeing major development plans for 2026. Housing, commercial and mixed use developments. We’ve done extensive work across Yorkshire already and the enquiries suggest 2026 is going to be even bigger.
The groundwork services we offer alongside piling means we can handle complete foundation packages. Contractors like that because it’s one company, one point of contact, one invoice. It makes their job easier and the project runs smoother.
Types of Projects We’re Seeing
Housing Developments
New build housing is massive for 2026. Developers are pushing ahead with projects that got planning permission over the last year or two. Many of these sites have challenging ground conditions which is where our mini piling services become essential.
We worked on new build houses in Blackpool, Leyland and all across Lancashire this year. That work continues into 2026 but on a bigger scale. Multiple site contracts and ongoing partnerships with developers who need reliable piling contractors they can count on.
