We were contacted by a builder who needed some piling work done for a single story extension he was working on. As it was coming up to the Christmas break the builder wanted the work to be completed prior to the Christmas shutdown. Due to the distance we couldn’t make a site visit however we worked with the builder, he was able to send over photos of the site and access of the site from which we were able to advise of any adjustments that were required prior to our start. This would ensure that the site would be ready for when work was due to commence, any queries were resolved and a start date was agreed. Our structural engineer designed the pile and ground beam calculations and building control was booked in by the client. To prepare for the job and to ensure it would be completed in a day, steel cages were fabricated in advance and taken down to site with all required equipment and other materials on the same day which had already been confirmed. We had already booked concrete prior to the start date to ensure not only all piles and beams could be installed but also to ensure the concrete could be poured and completed that same day.
Day 1 – our director arrived early on site to drive all the piles to the required depth and the steel cages were installed and secured. Building control came just after lunch and passed everything confirming that the work had been done to the engineers design. Concrete arrived that same afternoon, on completion the site was left clean for the builder to carry on to his schedule.
Once we received the paperwork the next day, a copy of the pile logs, insurance certificate and engineers design was sent to the client.
