A builder enquired in regards to some piling work alongside excavations on a single-story rear extension as the builder knew the area and was confident to say the ground would not be suitable for traditional footings, he also expressed that he had a schedule he had to keep. We then immediately scheduled a site meeting with one of our site foremen to discuss the work that was required, which we needed from the builder in regard to the preparation of the site, and the access to the site. Following this, a start date was confirmed and all necessary paperwork was put together such as the health and safety RAMs.
This was only a 2-day job so on the first morning our piling operatives began to excavate the trenches to the required width and depth. Once this was completed, they then begin to install the piles to the required depth.
On the second day, due to the steel being prefabricated, they installed the steel cages and ensure everything was to the engineer’s specifications and ready for building control to sign off. Once building control had signed the work off, they then pour the concrete into the trenches to create a solidified structure. Our piling operatives made sure the site was left clean and tidy to allow the builder to continue his work as scheduled.
The paperwork was then brought back to the office by the piling operatives ready to be processed and sent off to the client. They received a copy of the pile logs, and an insurance certificate from Vxcel Piling alongside the engineer’s calculations.
